Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910-1991), teacher, writer, scholar and sage, was one of the greatest luminaries of Tibetan Buddhism in the twentieth century. He spent 20 years in retreat, wrote over 25 volumes on Buddhist philosophy and practice, published and saved countless texts, and tirelessly worked to preserve and disseminate Buddhist philosophy, practice and culture. In exile, he established the Shechen Monastery in Nepal to continue his tradition, and taught countless students, many of whom are now major inspirations in the West
