Meditation
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Meditation is just sitting silently deep within yourself, looking at whatsoever is happening inside and outside both. Outside there is traffic noise, inside there is also traffic noise -- the traffic in the head. So many thoughts -- trucks and buses of thoughts and trains and airplanes of thoughts, rushing in every direction. But you are simply sitting aloof, unconcerned, watching everything with no evaluation.

So meditation is not really mind-effort. Real meditation is not effort at all. Real meditation is just allowing the mind to have its own way, and not interfering in any way whatsoever -- just remaining watchful, witnessing. It silences, by and by, it becomes still. One day it is gone. You are left alone.

Meditation has only one meaning, and that is going beyond the mind and becoming a witness. In your witnessing is the miracle -- the whole mystery of life.

Meditation is nothing but putting the mind aside, putting the mind out of the way, and bringing a witnessing which is always there but hidden underneath the mind. This witnessing will reach to your center, and once you have become enlightened, then there is no problem. Then bring the mind in tune with you.

Meditation in Action
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

During the day we get together as a group for our communal meditation.  Sometimes we practise different Osho meditation techniques, dance, play music, share or sit silently.

However, our main emphasis of this ashram is the “Meditation in Action” i.e. our projects in the gardens and forest, cleaning the communal areas or preparing food.

Meditation is not just silent sitting every morning and then the rest of the day acting unconsciously... this ashram helps people to carry this meditative state throughout the whole day so in every activity we are watchful of our moods, emotions, resistances, energy levels and how much passion we put into everything we do.

The “work” we do at the ashram is not like the “work” outside in the world where you are compensated with money. We joyfully partake in activities to find enjoyment in everything we do, no matter what we are doing.  Our enjoyment is here and now.

Sitting alone and silently in a meditation hall is one thing... staying centered and aware while busily finishing off a project or amidst many different people and difficult situations in our personal lives is quite another!:

Meditation at Samaya Ashram in the Bush
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

We have here an array of techniques to help us transcend body and mind. Below are the details for six types
practiced regularly at the ashram - although there are many more!

Vipassana

Vipassana Meditation

A practice of self-transformation through self-observation and introspection - to the extent that sitting with a steadfast mind becomes an active experience of change and impermanence.

Dynamic (Osho)

Vipassana Meditation

This is a meditation in which you have to be continuously alert, conscious, aware, whatsoever you do. Remain a witness. Don’t get lost. You can become one with the breathing so much that you can forget the witness. But then you miss the point.

Meditation in Action

Vipassana Meditation

Meditation in Action means bringing awareness to everything we do. When we work in the gardens, the forest or the buildings we try to be completely absorbed and focused on in each moment of each task..

Kundalini (Osho)

Vipassana Meditation

This meditation lasts for one hour and has four stages, three with music, and the last without. Kundalini acts like an energetic shower, softly shaking you free of your day and leaving you refreshed and mellow

Drum & Hum

Vipassana Meditation

Vibrate with nature and each other. Locate and activate the seven chakras through percussion and voice work..
Open Heart

Vipassana Meditation

Its only by truly opening our hearts that we can experience the ecstacy of freedom and connection. Here we learn and practice just that
